Management/treatment for a shoulder Dislocation
Management for dislocations usually involve ice, elevation and support of the injured area/limb using a bandage followed by immediate medical attention.
Treatment:
- Support the shoulder dislocation in comfortable position - Do not attempt to put the shoulder back in place in order to prevent further injuries around the shoulder - Use a sling or shoulder immobiliser to prevent further injury until medical treatment is available - To reduce the swelling, apply RICER regime (mention in the soft tissue injury management) – if possible - Important to seek medical advice immediately - Practice stretching/strengthening exercises that physiotherapist or doctors recommends |
